VISIT AND SHOPPING suite

§§§ The Guide to Gunwharf Quays§§§

It's really useful because it so big. Sometimes, I walked and I had the feeling of already have passed in the street but no it wasn't. I don't like spend my times to make shopping but in this commercial center it wouldn't mind. Moreover, I'm lucky because in England is the times of sale so it's interesting. Without forget that pounds have less value than euro. I like that so I take advantage and I search and buy souvenirs. Thanks MasterCard it's a good gadget shopping.

Small info: English people celebrate also in the same time the father's day. I could verify in many shop like Clinton Card. Good shop, French shop of cards is ridiculous (about quality and also quantity). I'm so impressed that I try to phone to my mum to tell her it's normal if my credit card is warmed. But public phone don't work. I find a shop of phone and tell information about my problem of signal. According to him, it's due to French signal SFR isn't international. He want to sell me a new SIM card and of course a new phone. Unfortunately, I understand what he explains me so I know that I can buy a new English SIM card, keep my phone and use it. Damage for him I'm not stupid. But, I am especially thrifty because if I the listening I shall have to buy a SIM card from £ 7 and a telephone low price that is 5£. Cheap only it's per month yeah !!!

After lose me in the big commercial center, I decide to go to the Portsmouth City Center. I take advantage to visit the monuments close.

First, I see the Stadium of Portsmouth, it's really big: there are field for French football, rugby, American football… It's huge but there is nobody, what waste!

Next, there is the St Thomas cathedral. It's open to public and it participates to Portsmouth Festivities Henry 500 during one week. There is a soloist who plays violin accompanied by a pianist. They're good musicians.
There is a old lady who dresses a old tunic and explains me the functionement of church. I make my small tour, and I ask some questions to a parishman who answers me with a lot of interesting details. (like about the placement of benches of the parishioners, the organ...)

I'm little tired so I'm going to drink a good beer. The first pub that I see on my way is
Duke Of Buckingham.
I ask for a traditional beer and the barman serves me a half pint of Courage Best Bitter (£1.25, bit expensive). It's my first english beer so I'm exiting. It's really good. I like, neither strong nor light.

§§§website of university§§§

I come back to my visits but it's almost the times to get on the bus. So, I return on my way . I pass in front the University of Business where contrary to french university, it composes of several hous, not building. But, there is one recent building.

-------------------------------------------------
Tourism day: visits of famous museum // Monday 22nd June
-------------------------------------------------------

In the Blue is Gunwharf quay with the spinaker tower (whose height will be significantly reduced by this development), in the red is where they have place it in the render which is where HMS warrior is currently moored as a floating museum which is accessed from the green historic dockyard. The flats and public space they show will take away the yellow transport interchange of the bus station (where will that go??) along with the train station (which isnt in the city center) and finally the balck line indicated the historic buildings (which portsmouth doesnt have alot of) which will be hidden / in the shade.

This "small" building is the biggest events venue in the Hampshire city of Portsmouth. It completed in 1890, was designed in the neo-classical style by architect William Hill, who had earlier been responsible for the deign of the town hall in Bolton.

In front of Guildhall, there is the Statue of Queen Victoria, and behind the Civic office. A nice idea ! the big screen which broadcast the news and sport.

This pub is the cheapest that you can find in all the town : THE W...They have many kind of beer maybe 20. Moreover, it's really less expensive. I ask for a pint of Greene King Ruddles (£1.29), and a lunch.

I trust to picture of served menu; so I ask for a cottage with peas and chips(£2.95). It's good, it's like "hachis parmentier".

After this meal and a free wifi connection to Internet, I return to my visit. Few streets further, I pass in front of University of buisness and accomodation of student.

I cross the ravelin park in order to arrive to seafront.

Great, the museum aren't far of the beach.

First visited monument: the War Memorial , Southsea.

Plan

But for arrive here, I have cross a big green field, which became yellow with the sun. Some people, make barbecue or play football or sleep.

After I walk near the beach on the quay, to go to castle.

In fact, the beach isn't with sands anymore, now there are stones

However, it is a big beach with 3 area to swim.

Southsea beach is mostly flint gravel, but with sand exposed at low tide. There are two piers: South Parade Pier and Clarence Pier; both house amusement arcades. South Parade Pier also contains a ballroom and a bar area. Clarence Pier is adjacent to a permanent funfair.

The city was threatened by attack from the sea.
Henry VIII ordered that Southsea Castle be built to defend Portsmouth and it harbour. Since then the Castle has been guarding the city for over 400 years.

The next museum is just behind the lake.

The Natural History Museum is a free visit. Great, decoration and many expositions. Animals and plants lived undisturbed by human beings. Now that we have taken over, wildlife in Portsmouth is just an echo of its former self - but what an echo! We have one of the most exciting places in the country for wildlife - the mudflats, marshes, seashores, woodland, grassland and built-up areas of the city mean we can attract all sorts of different species right to our front door.

It's very sensational, all this different stuff in a old house...amazing. It's the end of visit because most of museum are closed at 17:00.
